COVID-19 @ Home Learning

@home learning  can be tough at first but once we get the hang of it, both parent and child can experience success and even enjoy the process. The first step in the process is to create a system for learning experiences.

This includes a schedule, days and times for activities, and general expectations for work products. The schedule should be able to work well for both the parent and child and should include time for working together, working alone, breaks, lunch time, and even a built-in recess for physical activity. This will keep students on task as well as keep them conditioned for school-like structures which they are used to.

Activities should be divided into parent facilitated and self-directed activities and should promote inquiry and discovery often. General expectations for work completed and work product must be included in the schedule as goals. These goals can be on a calendar and be in either daily, weekly, and even both formats. Assessments must be varied and allow for students to express their knowledge in a way that most accentuates their skills and abilities.
